Curator's comments
The temple was built in the Mataram period (14th-15th century), but has since collapsed and is now a pile of bricks.
There is an 1859 painting of the site by Johannes Muller.
This temple has been identified as Candi Muteran at Majapahit. Wardenaar surveyed Trowulan in east Java in 1815 on Raffles' orders.
